Coastline International, Inc.
US-based contract manufacturer with Mexico facilities
Nearshoring:
Closer, Cheaper, Faster
What makes Coastline a reliable manufacturing partner is our ability to consistently meet high standards for quality, delivery, and service. As labor and transportation costs associated with distant offshore locations continue to rise, many OEM’s are choosing to manufacture closer to home.
Let us show you how free trade (USMCA) and low-cost labor makes Tijuana Mexico an excellent location for nearshore manufacturing.

A Long History
Coastline International has been a trusted manufacturing partner for other companies since 1982. Since inception, Coastline has served a wide array of well-known organizations across the Medical, Electronics, Aerospace, and Consumer Goods industries. Headquartered in San Diego, California, Coastline is a privately owned U.S. corporation with foreign manufacturing facilities in Tijuana Mexico.
Our typical client company develops and sells products in the U.S. and foreign markets. Over the course of three decades we have been the trusted partner of a wide range of companies, large and small, that outsource the manufacture of their products for strategic or economic reasons. We also provide shelter services to support client companies that elect to manage their own production operations in Mexico.
Capacity and Quality Accreditations
Coastline has 250+ employees and over 65,000 square feet of manufacturing facilities, including several ISO Class certified clean rooms. Quality is a paramount value at Coastline International and Coastline is FDA registered and an ISO 13485:2016 & ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturer.
Coastline International / Coastline de Mexico Quality Policy: Coastline International is committed to compliance with regulatory standards and focused on continuous improvement of our processes; we strive to deliver products that exceed the quality requirements of our customers on time and at a competitive price.
Nearshoring v. Offshoring
A company is said to be “offshoring” when it manufactures or assembles its products in another country. The term “nearshoring” is substituted when that country is near the company’s home country. For example, a U.S. company is nearshoring if its products are manufactured in neighboring Mexico.
Offshoring and nearshoring take advantage of the host country’s low cost of labor and production. However, long-distance transportation costs and changing world conditions make nearshoring a more attractive option – especially when the end user market is in North America.
Tijuana, Mexico
The Tijuana Economic Development Commission reports “… the quality, IP protections, lower-cost and logistical benefits of the City of Tijuana have allowed it to grow the largest concentration of medical device manufacturing employment in North America … Tijuana actually leads employment levels amongst all other medical device manufacturing regions of North America…”
This exceeds the comparable employment base in Minneapolis-St. Paul, New York State, Boston Metro, Los Angeles County and similar centers of medical device manufacturing in the United States.

Do What You Do Best,
Outsource the Rest
Transferring responsibility for mass-production to an outside manufacturing expert allows the OEM to focus its internal resources on value-producing and entrepreneurial activities that are central to its success. This means the OEM can invest more in its technology, products, markets, and sales, and less in day-to-day manufacturing.

Manufacture
with Confidence
By outsourcing to a competent manufacturing partner, like Coastline International, the OEM places mass-production in the hands of an organization singularly and expertly focused on production. Its long term success depends on responding to the needs of client OEM’s by producing and delivering products of consistent quality at the lowest possible cost.
Gain Speed and Flexibility
For many OEM’s, outsourcing everyday production gives them greater ability to:
- Increase speed-to-market
- Absorb business acquisitions
- Launch new products
- Maintain flexibility
- Strategic tariff management
- Focus on innovation, product development and R&D
- Improve logistics and supply chain resiliency
- Respond to demand and localize to end-market
- Risk management; augment current production
- Avoid large investments in plant and personnel
