The word maquiladora means “production sharing”. And in effect Coastline seeks to become an extension of our customer’s production capabilities. Coastline’s pricing is usually on a per piece basis (Contract Manufacturing) or on an hourly basis (Shelter Basis) to our customers. In either case, we set up a production line or cell to perform all the functions required by our customers to their specifications.
Contract Manufacturing is driven by Purchase Orders and work orders. The Shelter is a contract for a certain number of hours per week over a year, where the customer is responsible for management of the production and Coastline provides the services of logistics of all materials, raw and finished goods, as well as human resource functions and Mexican legal responsibilities. This arrangement protects and insulates the customer from all Mexican laws regarding employees, Mexican Customs and Import and Export issues.
